Born in Glasgow in 1972, Calene graduated with a BA Hons in Applied Art and Design from Edinburgh College of Art in 1997. Following this she worked as a freelance graphic designer. In 2003 Calene launched Hoophoop - designing and making handbags and accessories. In 2004 she relocated to Perthshire and currently serves on the Perthshire Visual Artists Forum committee. In 2006 Calene received the Perthshire Visual Artists Award to produce new work for her first solo exhibition in November 2007 at Birnam Institute. This led to the development of her current work, combining craft techniques and visual art.
